Performance evaluation of three atmospheric plasma reactors for PFAS treatment

Oct 10, 2023

Mubbshir Saleem presented research on plasma reactors for PFAS removal from landfill leachate at SARDINIA2023.

At the 19th International Symposium on Waste Management and Sustainable Landfilling (SARDINIA2023), held at Forte Village Resort in Santa Margherita di Pula, Cagliari, Italy from October 9-13, 2023, Mubbshir Saleem delivered a presentation titled 'Performance evaluation of three atmospheric plasma reactors for the treatment of aged/stabilized landfill leachate containing PFAS'. The presentation showcased collaborative research between the Department of Chemical Sciences (UNIPD) and Department of Environmental Engineering (NEDUET), featuring work by M. Saleem, M. Pasquale, G. Torrisi, K. Ulucan-Altuntas, M. Roverso, S. Dogali, E. Marotta, and M.C. Lavagnolo. This research represents a significant advancement in using atmospheric plasma technology to address the challenging problem of PFAS contamination in landfill leachate, demonstrating the SolarPlas project's commitment to developing innovative solutions for emerging contaminants.
