Active Lab at Sardinia Symposium, Italy
Oct 10, 2023
3-hour lab: live plasma demo, hands-on training.
The Sardinia Symposium is a leading international conference on waste management, resource recovery, and sustainable landfilling, held biennially in Italy and attracting delegates from over 50 countries. In 2023, I conducted a three-hour Active Lab on plasma applications for removing emerging contaminants and micropollutants from water, attended by researchers, technology developers, and industry representatives. The session introduced plasma technology, its advantages over conventional methods, and its potential for industrial water treatment. I delivered a live demonstration and offered hands-on training on operating plasma systems, performing plasma characterisation, and applying plasma diagnostics. This interactive format encouraged direct engagement, technical discussion, and practical understanding of plasma’s role in addressing modern wastewater challenges
